Technically identical with the standard Ingenieur Automatic, the Ingenieur Automatic AMG contains the same high-performance precision movement, designed to run indefatigably in everyday and extreme situations: manufactured, assembled and perfectly adjusted by engineers. Nevertheless, there are a number of points where the Ingenieur Automatic AMG differs from its sister model. The case is made of titanium, which makes it extremely light, comfortable to wear, exceedingly robust and very skin-friendly. At the same time, the choice of material is an acknowledgement of the austerity and discretion of the design. Titanium is therefore reserved exclusively for the Ingenieur AMG edition watches. But the dial, too, is unmistakably AMG: the design reminiscent of an instrument panel and the discerning use of bright red elements create an unmistakable yet eminently discreet connection to the sports car. An engraving on the back cover testifies to the partnership between Mercedes-AMG and IWC. More details

Every development in the history of the Ingenieur has resulted from IWC’s desire to make a good thing even better. And in the case of the Ingenieur Automatic, it has been highly successful. Because IWC has further perfected the legendary pawl-winding system invented by Albert Pellaton and featured in the company’s 5000 calibre movement to the point where the 80110 calibre automatic movement represents a new standard in reliability. IWC’s technicians have completely reworked the ingenious design using computer models with testing and analysis procedures that were unknown when Pellaton was Technical Director. The result is a clear improvement in the integrated shock-absorbing system which is to be found in no other automatic movement. The soft-iron inner case used to protect the movement effectively against magnetic fields up to a strength of 80,000 A/m has been retained. More details
